Changing the Game
One Athlete at a Time

Let me partner with you to address what’s holding you back.

What Is Sports Psychology
and How Can I Help?

What is Sports Psychology?

Sports psychology is a field of psychology that focuses on helping athletes of all ages improve their sports performance, enhance their mental game, and hone psychological skills that not only can help with reaching peak performance but can enhance their overall well-being.

I’ve Been There …

As a former high school and college basketball player I know firsthand the pressure of playing competitive sports and the challenging dynamics between players, coaches, and extended relationships.  I am certain that if I had had the opportunity to work with a sports psychologist or mental skills coach it would have improved my performance and allowed me to be resilient with the performance and personal pressures I faced.  Athletes need to be motivated, but they also need to know when to let go of a mistake.  They face injury and the obstacle of recovery in high-pressure situations.  Student athletes also must juggle training with schoolwork—and when you add in personal relationship issues, many athletes can become overwhelmed and this can negatively impact their athletic performance.

Athletes and Covid-19

Currently, many local athletes are also struggling with not being able to compete due to Covid-19.  Their years of hard work and focus are now requiring that they be flexible and resilient, mindful, and hopeful that they will be able to compete again.  Because of my training and experience, I can collaborate with the athlete to address these issues and help them to thrive.

My Approach & Training

My approach to sports psychology as a mental skills coach is unique in that I am blending my experience as a licensed psychotherapist for the past 13 years with graduate-level certification in Sports Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.  As a result, I am able to assist athletes with their performance, but also to address any ongoing mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, grief, or relational issues.

I would love to hear from you, your team, or your coach to see how I can help you reach the next level—both as an athlete and in your life!
